In his Emerald Necklace, the artist tried to convey images of a combination of colors and beauty of decorative elements. Young women settled in a green garden.

Borisov-Musatov himself considered his work a reflection of paganism. Her beautiful heroines personify the spring, blooming nature. They are like flower buds that unfold and stretch toward the sun. The inspiration for the painting was May green nature, the flowering time of most flowers.

The artist himself called this time "late spring." She filled his mind with her vivid color combinations. Thanks to the sensualist beginning, this picture stands out from all the other works of the artist. In it, nature and people merged into a single whole.

There is absolutely no horizon line in this composition. The green of the lawn and dandelion buds, in a frame of oak leaves, very much resembles an image of an ornament. All this acts as a background parallel to the heroes and the canvas, and not the space behind the women.

The women depicted, although at first seem very static, nevertheless, when they look again, they begin to mix from left to right. This is the artist’s first work, on which there are so many figures depicted in motion.

From one to the other side of the picture, a wave-like rhythm passes, subjugating the patterns on the foliage, the arrangement of the buds of dandelions and, naturally, the six heroines of the work. In the middle of the picture, it seems as if there was not a big pause, dividing among themselves a composition of women.

However, the distance between them is smoothed out by gestures of an invitation to proceed forward, expressed in the central figure wearing a yellow dress. A strip of dandelions and leaves also unites female figures. The landscape is dominated by a green color scheme.
