Vrubel has left us a great pictorial heritage that allows us to know all the skills of the author. "Oriental fairy tale" is a real jewelry work, because all the details are spelled out to the smallest detail. The canvas has gained great popularity among artists.

Her creation story was that Vrubel received an order from a Kiev philanthropist. The work for the collector Tereshchenko took the artist more than a year, but, nevertheless, he did not finish it. He received the money, and for the fact that the work was not completed, he made compensation to the customer in the form of the painting "Girl Against the Persian Carpet."

The plot of the “Eastern Tale” itself was formed in Vrubel’s thoughts under the impression of “Tales of Scheherazade”, which he heard in French performance in the house of his Prakhov friends. At this moment, a luxurious Persian carpet was lying on them, which additionally influenced the future creation of the canvas. Vrubel focused on a wonderful, rich carpet. The plot depicts a scene in a padishah’s tent. As you know, for centuries they had a tradition of having many wives - a harem.

Vrubel's painting describes an event in which the protagonist is the noble owner of the tent, with his many wives. One of them is beautiful and dark, she is jealously looking at her husband's new chosen one, who, in turn, shyly lowered her gaze and stands before them.

To accurately prescribe details, the artist used the method of precision application. The canvas is filled with deep saturated colors that create the effect and brilliance of the mosaic. It is both beautiful, restless and tragic, it shows the wealth of the countries of the East and their harsh traditions.

The painting is in storage at the Kiev Museum of Russian Art.
